American Repertory Theater Holds Third Annual Valentine's Gala Tonight

The American Repertory Theater's third annual Valentine's Gala will be held at The Hotel Revere, 200 Stuart Street, Boston.

Under the leadership of Dina Selkoe ofKarmaloop, 2013 Gala Chair, the A.R. T. is planning an evening of spectacle and up-close theater magic as part of the Gala tonight, February 11, 2013.

The Gala's Honorary Chair is Zachary Quinto, who also stars as Tom in the A.R.T.'s upcoming production of The Glass Menagerie. Along with Ms. Selkoe, Mr. Quinto will be a presenter at the event.

HonoraryGala Committee members include Governor Deval Patrick and First Lady Diane Patrick, composer Stephen Schwartz, singer Philip Boykin (The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess), Taylor Mac (The Lily's Revenge), Andrea Martin (Pippin), John Tiffany (director of Once and The Glass Menagerie), Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes and hip hop artist Pharrell Williams. There will also be an appearance by Kennedy of Mix 104.'s Karson and Kennedy.

The evening will begin at 5:30pm with a Benefactor Cocktail Party, followed by dinner provided by MAX Ultimate Foods. Entertainment will include special performances by celebrated A.R.T. luminaries, as well as a sneak preview performance from Cirque du Soleil's Amaluna (coming to Boston in the spring of 2014), directed by Diane Paulus, A.R.T. Artistic Director. The evening will also include an exclusive auction of theater packages to New York, Las Vegas and London, as well as dessert and dancing.

The A.R.T. will honor John Douglas Thompson, critically acclaimed stage and film actor with deep roots with the A.R.T. with the annual Robert Brustein Award. Linda Nathan, founding headmaster of Boston Arts Academy and internationally recognized leader in education reform, will receive the A.R.T. Angel Award; and Donald Ware, A.R.T. Board Chairman, longtime friend and advisor to the theater will also be recognized.

The American Repertory Theater at Harvard University is dedicated to expanding the boundaries of theater. Proceeds from the 3rd Annual Valentine's Gala will help support the theater's artistic programming as well as expand their Education and Community Programs. Through subsidized tickets to world-class productions, mentoring opportunities, private performances, innovative theater workshops, artist talks, and more, the A.R.T. is dedicated to expanding the community's engagement with great theater.
