Ally Theatre Company Opens Second Season With World Premiere Of RABBIT SUMMER
By: Stephi Wild

Ally Theatre Company opens their Second Season with the World Premiere of Rabbit Summer by Tracey Conyer Lee, presented January 12-28 2018 at Joe's Movement Emporium as part of the Women's Voices Theatre Festival.
Rabbit Summer, a world premiere tragicomedy, examines the fracture point of a marriage and a friendship. There's Ruby and her husband Wilson, who idealizes his manhood, his marriage, and his job as a cop. He smiles through pain Ruby wishes he would share. Ruby's childhood friend, Claire, joins the household after her husband is shot by a white officer, pitting black against blue, gun rights against police brutality, manhood against fatherhood, and love against need. The trio battle individually to live their personal truths in an America built on lies. "For Ally's Second Season, we are examining the uniquely American condition of Being While Black, specifically when that experience is pressed against systems and institutions that have historically barred access, amenity, and advancement," says Ally's Managing Director and Executive Producer, Ivana (Tai) Alexander. "Rabbit Summer opens a critical conversation about the intersection of race, gun rights, and civil rights, while also revealing the struggle of a black police officer serving in a time when police brutality consistently makes headline news."Michelle Proctor Rogers: Ruby
