Icicle Creek Center for the Arts will present a 'gypsy-swing-jazz' concert by Pearl Django on Saturday, September 1st at 7PM in the intimate Canyon Wren Recital Hall located at 7409 Icicle Road, Leavenworth, WA.

This September, The Phoenix Theater Project launches into its third season with ART by Yasmina Reza and translated by Christopher Hampton. Internationally acclaimed and winner of the 1998 Tony Award for best play, ART is a sharp and sarcastic comedy that has been performed around the world.

CTC is the industry leader in commissioning and producing plays by women specifically for young audiences, adding several strong young women to the canon of female protagonists. The opening play of the 2012-2013 Season brings a new feisty young lady to the stage to face seemingly insurmountable challenges. CTC will premiere the musical Buccaneers, written by Liz Duffy Adams with music by Ellen Maddow September 11 through October 21.

On Thursday, August 23 at 6:00 PM, the Ribbon Cutting and Official Relighting of the Marquee of the Historic North Theatre in Danville, VA, will take place. It is free and the public is invited. Directly afterwards at 8:00 PM the Preview Show-Magic of the Masters Close-Up Magic Show, starring celebrity magician and World Champion Illusionist, Wayne Alan, will take place in the Balcony Mini Theatre. Only 100 seats will be available for this intimate show of world class sleight of hand. Admission is $25.00-10.00.

The University of Houston School of Theatre & Dance has long produced successful acting talents. Thanks to the school's stage management program, it's also launching the careers of behind-the-scenes stars.In 2011, the school began offering a concentration in stage management for students pursuing a bachelor of fine arts (BFA) in theater. Next summer, the school will graduate its first stage management BFA student, while several others recently took their talents to theater companies across the country.

Washington National Opera (WNO) continues its 2012-2013 season with Mozart's Don Giovanni, September 20 to October 13 in the Kennedy Center Opera House. Powerhouse Russian bass Ildar Abdrazakov stars in the title role for most performances, while Tony Award® winning Brazilian baritone Paulo Szot (South Pacific) sings the title role on October 9. This WNO production, last seen in 2007, is directed by John Pascoe and conducted by WNO Music Director Philippe Auguin.

Photographer Bob Carey's much anticipated compilation of self-portraits in a tutu will be available September 2012. Ballerina, a hard cover 9 x 12 book with a foreword by Amy Arbus, showcases color photographs and back-stories about the journey behind the images. The captured images present both impertinent playfulness and vulnerability, themes that run thoughout much of Carey's work. The project has taken Carey from Italy to Times Square, and he hopes to turn the photos of himself into an inspirational force behind breast cancer awareness. Net proceeds from the sale of Ballerina will go directly to The Carey Foundation, a non-profit organization established by Carey and his wife Lindato provide support to women diagnosed with breast cancer and their family members.
