The University of Houston School of Theatre & Dance has long produced successful acting talents. Thanks to the school's stage management program, it's also launching the careers of behind-the-scenes stars.In 2011, the school began offering a concentration in stage management for students pursuing a bachelor of fine arts (BFA) in theater. Next summer, the school will graduate its first stage management BFA student, while several others recently took their talents to theater companies across the country.

Washington National Opera (WNO) continues its 2012-2013 season with Mozart's Don Giovanni, September 20 to October 13 in the Kennedy Center Opera House. Powerhouse Russian bass Ildar Abdrazakov stars in the title role for most performances, while Tony Award® winning Brazilian baritone Paulo Szot (South Pacific) sings the title role on October 9. This WNO production, last seen in 2007, is directed by John Pascoe and conducted by WNO Music Director Philippe Auguin.

Melbourne's own Taylor Klas (The White Door) is set to star as Joanne from Centrelink in a new cabaret 'Joanne's Real World,' making its debut at the Butterfly club on the 4th of September.

The Workshop Theater Company is pleased to announce Play-in-Progress production of Philip Hall's LIFE ON THE MISSISSIPPI, A Musical Play, musical directed by Fran Minarik and directed by Susanna Frazer. LIFE ON THE MISSISSIPPI will play a limited engagement at The Jewel Box Theater (312 West 36th Street, 4th Floor). Performances begin Wednesday, September 12 and continue through Sunday, September 22.

City Theatre anticipates the presidential election season with Electile Dysfunction: The Kinsey Sicks for President, a City Events special presentation blending the Kinsey Sicks' harmonious theatrics with colorful, election-year parodies. Electile Dysfunction: The Kinsey Sicks for President runs on City Theatre's Mainstage from September 6-9, 2012.

The Delaware River Theatre Collective, the region's newest, professional theatre company, will perform Andrew Lloyd Webber's CATS as its second production of the year. CATS is set for three performances to take place on Friday, August 24 and Saturday, August 25 at 8 pm and Sunday, August 26 at 2 pm at the Stephen J. Buck Memorial Theater at the New Hope-Solebury High School, 182 West Bridge Street in New Hope, PA.

Photographer Bob Carey's much anticipated compilation of self-portraits in a tutu will be available September 2012. Ballerina, a hard cover 9 x 12 book with a foreword by Amy Arbus, showcases color photographs and back-stories about the journey behind the images. The captured images present both impertinent playfulness and vulnerability, themes that run thoughout much of Carey's work. The project has taken Carey from Italy to Times Square, and he hopes to turn the photos of himself into an inspirational force behind breast cancer awareness. Net proceeds from the sale of Ballerina will go directly to The Carey Foundation, a non-profit organization established by Carey and his wife Lindato provide support to women diagnosed with breast cancer and their family members.

The 3rd Annual Bailout Improv Tournament Spectacular (BITS) came to an exciting conclusion Wednesday, August 8 at Go Comedy! Improv Theater when Forever 15 became the winners of the tournament's $1002 grand prize.
