Hi! I'm Natalie and I'm a sophomore studying Theatre at Northeastern University in Boston. I am originally from San Francisco Califonia so I know first hand what it's like to step into an unfamiliar experience, and the adventure that is trying to find theater in that unfamiliarity. My favorite shows include The Lehman Trilogy, Hadestown, Cabaret, and The Effect. I believe that storytelling is strongest basis of human connection. Sharing stories allows us to break down the barriers—cultural, linguistic, age, gender— that separate us and practice the beautifully human art of empathy. I see theater and the performing arts as the perfect medium to inspire more empathy through the creative and collaborative foundation it requires. For me, theater is a place to explore the human experience and to explore what was, what is, and what I dream the world could be.
If you cringed at the word “audition”, don’t worry, we all do it. Every single one of my actor friends dreads auditions and if you tell me you look forward to them, you don’t have to lie, this is a safe place.
When I was younger, back to school just meant back to overthinking my outfit and material choices with 15 minute drives filled with musical sing-alongs and day debriefs with my parents. Now it involves a 3,098.6 mile plane ride and a severe drop in temperatures.
