Comfortability when writing is something I have not always felt. I vividly remember sitting in AP English in high school and thinking, “Wow, I’m the worst writer in here,” as I scanned the room with my eyes...at that level I was nowhere close to the people sitting next to me…or at least I thought so.

When talking about academic integrity for a performing arts major, the topic becomes a little tricky to discuss. Especially when most of your assignments include performing monologues, scenes, and having personal reflections, there doesn’t seem like much room for you to disrupt the expectation of academic integrity.

The idea of senior year is indeed quite daunting; It’s the last year of school for most people, and you are expected to have a good idea of what you are going to do post graduation. So yes, senior year comes with a lot of expectations, but remember that you are still a student!

There are many things in our world today that make burnout far too common among current high school and college students. So, it is inevitable that you will one day experience burnout. School is designed to challenge you and make you stronger at what you do, but there will always come a time where it may feel like too much.

At the beach you can find any type of character you want: Locals, people from out of town, teenagers on summer break, the workers at the deli, etc. The best thing you can do when developing a new character for a story is to analyze the behavior of real people.

Being in a BFA acting program, the start of a new school year typically feels like jumping onto an already running train. Therefore, the mental preparation for that jump begins now. Every school year brings a slightly different routine, but here are a couple of tools I have found along the way.

Adelphi University welcomed New York Theatre Workshop back to campus...It is quite weird however to be doing an internship during the summer months, in the same building I typically spend 30-40 hours a week in during a semester. But that’s the beauty of it all, really.

I am using this time off to continue my writing. As a new playwright, I am overwhelmed by the amount of ideas I have, as there are so many worlds I want to explore. When I often have a random thought, I usually write it down in my notes app on my phone. And when it comes to sitting down at my computer to write, I have multiple jumping off points!
