American Idol continued holding auditions tonight in San Antonio. From the previews shown last week, it seemed like the next American Idol would come from this city.

Following on the heels of Esmeralda Enrique Spanish Dance Company's (EESDC) 30th anniversary year where its production Aguas/Waters was named one of the top five dance shows of 2012 by NOW Magazine, the early months of 2013 are full of excitement and possibility for Esmeralda and the company, which brings the finest flamenco and Spanish Classical Dance to Toronto stages.

This week's THEATER TALK focuses on both the new PBS documentary Broadway Musicals: A Jewish Legacy and the 100th Anniversary of the Actors' Equity Association. Guests are filmmaker Michael Kantor, producer of the PBS film, followed by Nicholas Wyman, President of Actors' Equity, and Robert Simonson, author of Performance of the Century: 100 Years of Actors' Equity Association and the Rise of Professional American Theater, which chronicles the powerful union's history.

The comedy runs February 7 - February 23, 2013 and will be presented at the Stone Cottage Theatre, 15650 Addison Road, Addison TX, 75001. Tick, Tick...Boom! by Pulitzer ,and Tony Award Winner Jonathan Larson directed by Scott Schuster is an autobiographical musical set in New York's SOHO during the year 1990. The show won the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical and received 7 Drama Desk Award nominations, including Outstanding Musical.

Baton Rouge, LA was the next stop for American Idol auditions on tonight's episode. The people of the bayou showed up in the thousands for their chance to be crowned the next American Idol.

Tonight on American Idol, the judges rolled into Charolette, North Carolina in hopes to find the next big talent. The episode kicked off with footage of the long speculated feud between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj. As everyone knows however, the show must go on and that it did.

Sonoma State University Departments of Music and Theatre Arts & Dance presents 'Island Passions: Two One-Act Operas,' a double bill of comedy and tragedy. Joseph Haydn's 'The Deserted Island (L' Isola Disabitata),' features sublime music and arias as it follows the romantic, comic adventures of two sisters abandoned on a Caribbean island. 'Riders to the Sea' features passionate, atmospheric music by Ralph Vaughan Williams evoking a windswept ocean as it tells the tale of two sisters and their mother trying to save the last of six sons from his fate on the sea.

Four-time Emmy Award Winner & Tony Award Nominee Valerie Harper was hospitalized last week, interrupting rehearsals for the national tour of LOOPED. She is currently being treated in Manhattan and is expected to make a full recovery within weeks.

The Country Playhouse, together with the Houston Masonic Library and Museum Foundation, will present the new play Leaving San Jacinto by Diana Howie, on its Cerwinske main stage for four performances only, February 28 - March 3. The Huntington Theatre Company brings Thornton Wilder's Pulitzer Prize-winning Our Town home to Boston on its 75th anniversary in a landmark staging by Obie Award winner David Cromer (Tribes, Adding Machine). The remount of the acclaimed New York production that features a homegrown cast will inaugurate the Huntington's use of the intimate, 250-seat Roberts Studio Theatre in the Huntington's Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA.

The Deep Throat Sex Scandal, a new play by David Bertolino about the making of the famed, groundbreaking, 1970s pornographic film "Deep Throat" and the subsequent controversy the film ignited, will have its West Coast Premiere at the Zephyr Theatre for a six week engagement, beginning performances January 24, and opening January 31, 2013.

FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed "Best of New York" by New York Magazine and "an invaluable New York institution" by The New York Post, will close its Fall 2012 season with the return of the club's founder MICHAEL FEINSTEIN and two-time Tony Award winning Broadway and TV star CHRISTINE EBERSOLE from December 23 through New Year's Eve. Their duet show will feature classic standards and Broadway hits, in addition to rarities from the Great American Songbook. Feinstein will perform selections from The Gershwins and Me, his new CD and book from Simon & Schuster, currently on the Los Angeles Times Best-seller list. Feinstein's longtime Musical Director John Oddo will lead the all-star band. All shows take place at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue at 61st Street).

A Is For Alpine, the debut album from the lauded Australian outfit Alpine, will be released stateside May 21 on Votiv. The new release follows Alpine's 2010 Zurich EP which earned critical praise with The Guardian describing the group as "hands down the best Aussie band we've heard all year."
