Tracy Braunstein's love of theatre began when she was just a child. She recalls early memories of performing ANNIE in the basement and singing 'Big Spender' into a hairbrush around the age of 6. She soon graduated to school plays and immersed herself in community theatre. When she was 17, she got on a bus, with her mom. to take a trip to New York City to see Lea Salonga in her last week of MISS SAIGON.

The McGill Savoy Society opened its new production of Gilbert and Sullivan's operetta Iolanthe on February 9, 2018. The show runs for three more performances on Friday, February 16 at 7:30 pm and Saturday, February 17 at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm at Moyse Hall Theatre in the McGill University Arts Building at 555 Sherbrooke Street West.

Broadway Star of HAMILTON, Andrew Chappelle (HAMILTON, MAMMA MIA!, PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT) will hold an exclusive masterclass in Montreal for local performers. Andrew will teach lucky participants a song and dance combo from HAMILTON as well as sharing tricks of the trade for auditioning for musical theatre productions. Enrollment in the masterclass is extremely limited. The class is also open to auditors who can observe and learn from the audience. The masterclass will conclude with a lively Q & A with Andrew where he will share his experiences in this historic, revolutionary and inspiring new American musical phenomenon! The smash hit musical, HAMILTON, which won the Pulitzer Prize, Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album, 11 Tony Awards, including Best Musical and 8 Drama Desk Awards, including Best Musical, is currently running on Broadway and around the world. 

Brandon Howard Roy was born and raised in Beaconsfield, QC, in the West Island of Montreal. A recent graduate of Sheridan College, just outside Toronto, Roy is making his professional theatre debut in THE HOCKEY SWEATER: A MUSICAL this week at The Segal Centre.

Trista Moldovan has been part of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA for nearly 10 years, having played Christine in the 10,000th performance on Broadway as well as on tour. She is currently on tour with the show, this time playing Carlotta. The tour makes a stop in Montreal from October 4 - October 15, 2017 at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier, Place des Arts.

Montreal's 2017-2018 theatre season is starting up, and there's a new kid on the playground. Playground Productions is Montreal's newest theatre company, and the team of young artists behind it could not be more excited to open their first production in late September.

Cathy Burns was born and raised in Dorval, a suburb just outside Montreal, the fifth of seven children. She attended John XXIII High School in Dorval, which was known for it's excellent Drama Department. All of her siblings went through the John VIII Drama Department and excelled, most receiving special recognition, 'a Burns tradition.'

Three-time META Award nominee WISTA will be presenting their ninth full book musical production, Shrek the Musical. New Montreal company, L'authentique will present IT'S ABOUT ONE MOMENT on Saturday, March 18, 2017. This new company was formed to promote and create opportunities for a new generation of professional musical theatre artists in Montreal and Quebec City.

A cast of 27 local Montreal performers, ages 8-70, will present BRINGING BACK BROADWAY, A Musical Review from March 2-7, 2017 at Congregation Beth Tikvah,136 Westpark Blvd, Dollard des Ormeaux, QC. The two hour long Broadway musical revue will highlight songs from ANNIE, WICKED, ALADDIN, THE LITTLE MERMAID, MISS SAIGON, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, CHESS, WAITRESS, HAMILTON, THE SOUND OF MUSICA and LES MISERABLES.

On February 4th, 2017 at 5:30PM, The West Island Theatre Association (WISTA) will gather notable members, alumni, artists, dignitaries, fans, and supporters of musical theatre at the grand Olympia Reception Hall to celebrate a historical milestone of shared achievements and successes with its highly anticipated ten-year gala.

Sam Zeller was born and raised in Anaheim, CA, the youngest of three sons. Zeller went to Walt Disney Elementary school and grew up, in his words, 'a very fantasy like type life, because I always thought everyone was surrounded by Disney characters all the time like I was. But of course, nobody was.'

Sarah Primmer was born in Atlanta, Georgia but moved to Connecticut at 7 years old. A classically trained singer, Primmer attended Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania where she studied music and theatre. Primmer currently resides in New York City, where she has been for the past 6 years. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Primmer to discuss her past projects along with her current role of Madame in CINDERELLA on Tour.

September 14 - September 17, 2016, The Centre for Education and Theatre in Montreal (CETM) will present the 8th Annual NEXT WAVE FESTIVAL, Canada's Festival for New Musical Theatre. The festival will feature two local musical theatre productions along with CETM's 10th year anniversary showcase-fundraiser.

On the 25th anniversary of the original, bilingual production of LES MISERABLES in Montreal, original cast members performed to benefit The Royal Theatre Thousand Islands, a non-profit, community theatre being built by one of their own.

For the first time, the Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre (DWYT), Canada's oldest Yiddish-language theatre, is teaming up with the vibrant, META Award-winning Cote Saint-Luc Dramatic Society to produce the Yiddish World premiere of THE PRODUCERS: A New Mel Brooks Musical. The Segal Centre for Performing Arts is proud to present this hilarious, record-breaking musical in Yiddish with English and French supertitles on the Segal stage through July 10, 2016.

Alex Scolari always knew she wanted to perform. From the age of 5 she was performing in musical theatre productions in her community just outside Los Angeles. At the age of 9, she was competitively competing in dance with The Millennium Dance Complex's Junior Dance Company.
