St. Lawrence String Quartet Closes Richard P. Garmany Chamber Series 4/8

The St. Lawrence String Quartet will perform the final concert of the 2009-2010 Richard P. Garmany Chamber Music Series on Thursday, April 8, at 7:30 PM in Millard Auditorium, on the University of Hartford campus. A special pre-concert dinner precedes the performance and begins at 6:00 PM in the University's 1877 Club. Admission to the concert is $30, with discounts available for seniors, students, and groups. This full-day workshop will lead actors through the process of booking the job, using unique audition strategies that allow the actor to win every time! And, we'll focus on the mechanics and special techniques required to nail your audition in front of the camera. All participants will be video-taped, using actual scenes from television shows and movies that have been auditioned and filmed in our area.

The Edge Theatre Company will hold auditions for The Shadow Box by Michael Kristofer on April 24, 2010 at 2:00 PM and on April 25 at 5:00 PM at South Pointe High School. Those auditioning should prepare a contemporary monologue and be prepared to read from the script. Please provide a headshot and resume if available. Please come with all known conflicts at the time of the audition. This production will be directed by Russell Luke. Performance dates are June 10-13, 2010.

Recorded in Buenos Aires, Argentina, featuring a superb ensemble of tango and jazz musicians, 'Tango Grill,' the new recording by Argentine-born, New York-based bassist Pablo Aslan, is a brilliant follow up to 'Buenos Aires Tango Standards' (Zoho Music, 2007). The bassist will perform in Jazz at Lincoln Center in a performance featuring Nicolas Ledesma and Abel Rogatini on piano, Pablo Agri on violin, Gustavo Bergalli on trumpet, Daniel Piazzolla on drums, and Michael Zisman and Raul Jaurena on bandoneon.

The Abbey Theatre is proud to present a major new production of William Shakespeare's psychological thriller MACBETH. This muscular new production of one of the most exciting of Shakespeare's plays, as well as being one of the darkest, will be directed by Jimmy Fay. MACBETH opens on Wednesday 7 April (previews from 30 March) and features leading Irish actors, Aidan Kelly and Eileen Walsh in the roles of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth.
