The Music Program at Oakland University is inviting area music and drama lovers to a night at the opera to help chase away the Michigan mid-winter blues.

The Ornery Theatre will present an original work, Cthulhu: A Puppet Play, at local art space 14 Pews from February 14-18th. Cthulhu: A Puppet Play is based on the cosmology created by the master of horror, H.P. Lovecraft (author of seminal classics The Call of Cthulhu, The Dunwich Horror , and The Dreams in the Witch House). Borrowing from Lovecraft's themes and characters, Cthulhu: A Puppet Play uses puppets, film, and an original score to capture the feeling of impending doom intrinsic to Lovecraft's works and place it in a modern setting.

Hit sketch group The Three Englishmen kick off their monthly new-material residency at the Canal Cafe this January! In their surreal and heart-warming style, 'reminiscent of an updated Monty Python", the Englishmen will be bringing you an hour of all-new sketches, plus some old favourites - a winning combination of imaginative characters, surreal pop-culture, delightful set-ups, and brilliantly catchy songs!

'Off the King's Road' is the first full-length theater production in New York for emerging playwright Neil Koenigsberg, who is well-known in the Hollywood community as a veteran publicist, producer and personal talent manager.

Yuki Hasegawa presents her Azul Dance Theatre in a program of new works by Ms. Hasegawa and guest choreographers Kanako Yokoto and Taiwanese twin dancer/choreographers Hsiao-Ting and Hsiao-Wei Shieh, February 2 & 3 at the Capezio Theater at Peridance, 126 East 13th Street.

Christoph von Dohnányi will return to the New York Philharmonic to conduct an all-Beethoven program that includes the Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus; Piano Concerto No. 1, with soloist Radu Lupu; and Symphony No. 5 on Thursday, January 31, 2013, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, February 1 at 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, February 2 at 8:00 p.m.
