The Midtown International Theatre Festival (MITF) announces selected plays for SHORT SUBJECTS, a division for plays that run no more than 60 minutes. Eighteen plays were selected. Tickets are $14 -17 and are available at www.midtownfestival.org or by phone at 866-811-4111. The Festival also offers various group discounts and package passes, good for full-length and short plays.

Rachel Potter is currently appearing as the Mistress EVITA. She appears alongside Ricky Martin, Elena Roger, and Michael Cerveris. Rachel made her Broadway debut as Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family starring Brooke Shields, following a tour with Stephen Schwartz's smash hit musical, Wicked (Glinda u/s). Rachel has also performed the roles of Ariel, Belle, and Nemo, among others, at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Her debut Country album was released May 2012, following an EP release concert at Joe's Pub on May 13th.

The Blue Note welcomes Spyro Gyra back for a week of shows for the first time since 2009. As the band celebrates 35 years since its first release and looks forward to celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2014, it shows little sign of slowing down, gaining Grammy nominations for each of its last four albums.

Victory Gardens Theater Artistic Director Chay Yew and Executive Director Jan Kallish announce the new plays selected for the company's 2012 IGNITION Festival. The selected plays are: Seven Spots on the Sun by Martin Zimmerman; The Shotgun Message by A. Rey Pamatmat; Samsara by Lauren Yee; Appropriate by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and The Curious Walk of the Salamander by Kirsten Greenidge. VG Playwrights Ensemble Member Marcus Gardley will join the selected group as a Playwright-in-Residence. Gardley will spend his time researching and drafting his upcoming play Chicago is Burning.

Williamstown Theatre Festival Artistic Director Jenny Gersten announced today two family programs for the 2012 season: the 25th Anniversary Production of Free Theatre, The Valley of Fear adapted by Steve Lawson from the novel by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and the inaugural year of the Family Friday Workshops, which gives young people aged 8-14 an inside look at the Festival.
