Rizzo 39 Productions has announced a two night only engagement of Donna/Madonna at the Chance Theatre in Anaheim on August 6 and 13. Written and performed by John Paul Karliak, Donna/Madonna is directed by Tiger Reel and Matthew Craig. Curtain time for both performances is 8pm.

Victory Gardens Theater Artistic Director Chay Yew and Executive Director Jan Kallish announce the new plays selected for the company's 2012 IGNITION Festival. The selected plays are: Seven Spots on the Sun by Martin Zimmerman; The Shotgun Message by A. Rey Pamatmat; Samsara by Lauren Yee; Appropriate by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and Dr. Ali Goes Native by Yussef El Guindi. VG Playwrights Ensemble Member Marcus Gardley will join the selected group as a Playwright-in-Residence. Gardley will spend his time researching and drafting his upcoming play Chicago is Burning.

September 7, Roulette opens the Fall 2012 season with the highly acclaimed Mary Halvorson Septet. Featuring Jonathan Finlayson (trumpet), Jon Irabagon (alto saxophone), Ingrid Laubrock (tenor saxophone), Jacob Garchik (trombone), Mary Halvorson (guitar), John Hébert (bass) & Ches Smith (drums) the evening's performance will feature brand new material. The septet is an extension of Ms. Halvorson's existing quintet, and is her largest project to date. Written for some of her closest collaborators, the new music will feature expansive horn harmonies reminiscent of a big band, combined with the improvisational energy of a smaller group. This concert has been made possible by a Chamber Music America Presenting Jazz Grant in conjunction with Roulette.

Vital Theatre Company, winner of the 2012 Off-Broadway Alliance Award for Best Family Show, has announced its 2012-2013 Family Programming season in its home theatre at 76th Street and Broadway. Featuring four musicals for children and families, this year's Vital season includes two world premieres and two returning favorites. In Fancy Nancy The Musical and Show Way, two popular children's books are newly adapted for the stage. Starting October 6, Imagination Stage brings back its popular show for the very young:Mouse on the Move. This show, called "ridiculously adorable" by Our Kids, had its world premiere production in January 2012 at Imagination Stage, making it the theatre's 35th commissioned new work for children in Imagination Stage's 33 year history.

Producer John Johnson announced today that the debut album from composer Ryan Scott Oliver, 35MM: A Musical Exhibition (Original Cast Recording), will be released digitally on Tuesday, August 14th by Ghostlight Records. The album will be available in stores on Tuesday, September 11th. (Pre-orders for the recording are now being taken at http://sh-k-boom.com/35mm.shtml.) An album release concert is being planned for mid-September, about which additional details will be announced shortly.

The Lark Play Development Center announced Rogelio Martinezas the inaugural recipient of the Lark Mid-Career Playwright Fellowship. This award is a new addition to a growing portfolio of fellowships at the New York City-based playwrights' laboratory that are designed to ensure economic stability for playwrights at transformative junctures in their careers. Effective immediately, the fellowship will last for two years and provide Martinez with financial support, creative resources and professional advocacy. This program is made possible with leadership support from the New York City's Theatre Subdistrict Counciland contributions from individual donors.

The Hollywood Arts Council will pull out all the stops this year at their 27th Annual Children's Festival of the Arts as they celebrate and honor Paramount Pictures' 100th Birthday. The FREE One-Day Only Festival will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2012 from 12-Noon - 4:30 p.m. at Paramount Pictures (5555 Melrose Avenue) in the shaded garden setting adjacent to their historic gated entrance. The festival feature live performances of dance and music from around the world, celebrities, family art workshops, face painting and puppet making.

Center Theatre Group has announced that Robert Egan is set to direct Jon Robin Baitz's "Other Desert Cities" at the Mark Taper Forum. The play that received a 2012 Tony nomination for Best Play will be presented in its West Coast premiere at the Taper and will close out the Taper's 45th season at the Los Angeles Music Center.

Black Ensemble Theater announces the World Premiere of One Name Only (Featuring the Hits of Aretha, Gladys, Patti, Chaka and A Tribute to Whitney), written and directed by Black Ensemble Associate Director Rueben Echoles. Coming off of their successful 2011/2012 season at Theater Wit, BoHo Theatre today announced its new Executive Director, Kaela Altman, who will be taking over the position from Peter Blair. Blair served as the company's Executive Director for two seasons following the tenure of founding Executive Director Tom Samorian in 2010. Blair will remain an active company member with BoHo.
