Hollywood Arts Council's 27th Annual Children's Festival of the Arts Set for 8/12

The Hollywood Arts Council will pull out all the stops this year at their 27th Annual Children's Festival of the Arts as they celebrate and honor Paramount Pictures' 100th Birthday.  The FREE One-Day Only Festival will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2012 from 12-Noon – 4:30 p.m. at Paramount Pictures (5555 Melrose Avenue) in the shaded garden setting adjacent to their historic gated entrance.  The festival feature live performances of dance and music from around the world, celebrities, family art workshops, face painting and puppet making.
 
           Food and drinks will be available for sale.  Enter at Bronson Gate, where there will be ample free parking on site.  For more information, call 323-871-2787 or visit online at www.hollywoodartscouncil.org.

            The schedule of Performers for this year's Festival is as follows:  12:15 – 12:45 p.m.:  Plaza de la Raza Folklorico;1:00 – 1:30 p.m.:  Stunt Kids of Hollywood; 1:45 – 2:15 p.m.:  Russian Entertainment Unlimited; 2:30 – 3:00 p.m.: Jim Gamble Puppets; 3:15 – 3:45 p.m.:  Korean Classical Music and Dance Company; 4:00 – 4:30 p.m.:  Nu Pan Groove,steel drum combo.
 
            Workshop Artists at this year's Festival will include:  Jenny Nissenson, "Puppet Workshop," 12-Noon –  4:00 p.m.; Kids Art, "Drawing Tutorials," 12-Noon – 4:00 p.m.; Patty Sue Jones, "Japanese Wind Socks," 12-Noon – 2:00 p.m.; Gayle Gale, "Fruit and Veggie Masks," 2:30 – 4:30 p.m.; Howard Marshall, "Styrofoam Block Printing," 12:15 – 2:15 p.m.; Nicola Vruwink, "Paper Pinwheels," 2:30 – 4:30 p.m.; Imani Afi, "Dream Catchers," 2:30 – 4:30 p.m.; andQuan Yen Trang, "Pet Butterflies," 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.
 
           As a special treat this year, there will be a cake-decorating contest recognizing Paramount Pictures' 100th Birthday Celebration. Entries will be from bakeries in the area and the contest will be judged by VIP and celebrity guests.  After the cakes are photographed and judged, they will passed out to Festival attendees.
 
            Looney Tunes characters (i.e., Bugs Bunny, Tweety Bird or Woody Woodpecker) courtesy of Six Flags Magic Mountain will circulate among festival attendees providing photo opportunities and lasting memories!  There will also be face painters and many other surprises to delight young and old alike.

            The Hollywood Arts Council is a community-based organization founded in 1978 to promote, nurture, and support the arts in Hollywood.  The annual Children's Festival of the Arts is one of many projects and events presented by the Council to enhance the quality of life in the city.  The Council's projects also include Project SOAR (Students Overcoming All Risks), an after school art program presented in Hollywood area elementary schools.  To learn more, please visitwww.hollywoodartscouncil.org.
