Sir Georg Solti was an exclusive Decca artist for 50 years. In 1947 he signed his first contract with Decca as a pianist and that same year he made his first record as a conductor (with the Zurich Tonhalle in Beethoven's Egmont Overture). His last public concerts, also with the Zurich Tonhalle, took place just a few weeks before his death in 1997.

Today, the New London Maritime Society placed a $100,000 bid with the U.S. General Services Administration to buy Little Gull Island. Save the Sound, a program of Connecticut Fund for the Environment, worked with the New London Maritime Society over the past several weeks to secure funding for the bid from several organizations including the Quebec-Labrador Foundation, New London Community Foundation, and several other anonymous donors.
