The 2012 Twin Cities Horror Festival Announces ScheduleOctober 11, 2012The Twin Cities Horror Festival is has announced the full 2012 festival schedule. For ten days this fall, seven different groups present 5 performances each in an exploration of the genres of horror through a multitude of performance disciplines at the Southern Theater. The festival features local theater, storytelling, dance and music artists presenting their take on the theme of "horror." The festival will present more than 30 performances over two weekends with a free costume and dance party from 5:30pm-9:30pm on Halloween Night.
James Levine to Return to Conducting at the Metropolitan OperaOctober 11, 2012James Levine, the Metropolitan Opera's Music Director, will return to conducting on May 19, 2013 with the MET Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. He will then lead three operas in the Met's 2013-14 season, including a new production of Verdi's Falstaff and revivals of Mozart's Cosi fan tutte and Berg's Wozzeck. He will also conduct all three Carnegie Hall concerts that season.

Cleveland Orchestra Performs Russian Concerts, 10/18-20October 11, 2012Pinchas Steinberg conducts The Cleveland Orchestra in Severance Hall concerts featuring music by three Russian masters. The main work on the program is Sergei Prokofiev's symphonic cantata drawn from his score for the 1938 film Alexander Nevsky. Mezzo-sopranoSasha Cooke makes her Cleveland Orchestra debut as soloist in the cantata. Also performing with the Orchestra in Alexander Nevsky is the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus, prepared by Cleveland Orchestra Director of Choruses Robert Porco and Assistant Director of ChorusesLisa Wong. The concerts open with Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's Suite from Le Coq d'or ("The Golden Cockerel"), followed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Francesca da Rimini.
