Hurricane Sandy has caused the cancellation of much of New York's theatre over the past few days. While most shows on Broadway are returning to their normal performance schedules beginning today, many of the city's off-Broadway and off-off-Broadway theatres are still struggling. Performances at The Public Theater, La MaMa, The Flea and more have been cancelled. Check the list below for the latest - and check back for updates as more information becomes available.

Casting is announced for Westport Country Playhouse's Script in Hand playreading of "Over the River and Through the Woods" by Tony Award-winning playwright Joe DiPietro, a comedy about a single, Italian-American guy who visits his beloved, though annoying, grandparents every Sunday for dinner. Scheduled for one-night-only on Monday, November 12, 7 p.m., the cast includes Matthew Amendt, Nicole Lowrance, David Marguiles, Frances Sternhagen, Maria Tucci, and Lenny Wolpe. Director is Anne Keefe, Playhouse artistic advisor.

The Public Theater has released a statement reads that 'as of noon today, October 31, The Public Theater is still without power. The building remains closed, including the box office and administrative offices. Our online ticketing, email, and phone systems are down.'

The new Broadway production of the Tony Award winning play The Heiress began previews on October 6th. Though Hurricane Sandy caused many Broadway closures over the past several days, the show will open tomorrow night as scheduled.

New City Stage Company began previews of the Philadelphia premiere of 'RFK' by Jack Holmes on Wednesday, October 3 and the show has been selling out ever since. Arguably the highest rated play being performed in the greater Philadelphia area at this time, it has received rave reviews and 4 performances have been added in November as part of their community outreach program.

Henley Street Theatre and Richmond CenterStage today announced a partnership to offer three acting workshops for students and adults during the month of November.

This November, the Roxy Regional Theatre explores the question, 'What would you would be willing to compromise in order to lead a life free of poverty, war and suffering?' Based on Lois Lowry's Newbery Award-winning book, THE GIVER will captivate and transform both young and old alike with five public performances only, beginning Wednesday, November 14, at 7pm.

On November 8, maestro Julian Wachner - Director of Music and the Arts for Trinity Wall Street - returns to lead the 13th annual VOX festival at the Skirball Center in New York's Greenwich Village. Described by the New York Times as an "invaluable showcase," VOX is the New York City Opera's workshop for previously unproduced contemporary American opera. As this season's conductor, Wachner will direct soloists and members of the NYC Opera Orchestra in selections from six new works chosen to highlight the eclectic landscape of American opera, from composers John Zorn, Moto Osada, Christopher Weiss, Evan Meier, James Stepleton, and Osnat Netzer.

Signal Ensemble Theatre opens the new year with the second production in their Tenth Anniversary 2012-2013 season, the world premiere of Successors, January 26 - March 2, 2013 at Signal Ensemble Theatre, 1802 West Berenice Ave. Successors is written by Signal Ensemble member Jon Steinhagen and is directed by Signal Ensemble member and Co-Artistic Director Ronan Marra. Grammy and Tony award winning songwriter and composer Duncan Sheik will headline Michelle Clark's Sunset Session Tour 2012 kicking off at Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas on November 9. Sheik will be performing songs from his new album Covers 80s Remixed due on November 6 on his own imprint Sneaky Records/MRI.

The NATIONAL NEW PLAY NETWORK (NNPN), the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, proudly announces the commission of four podcast plays by DC-based playwrights, to be presented during its 2012 National Showcase of New Plays. Short works by Paige Hernandez, Jacqueline E. Lawton, Stephen Spotswood and Gwydion Suilebhan will be recorded onto iPod Shuffles and depart the Woolly Mammoth lobby in four directions - respectively, North, West, South and East - at all hours during the Showcase, November 29 - December 2.

2012 Academy Award® winner Christopher Plummer recreates his Tony Award-winning role in the film adaptation of BARRYMORE, directed & adapted by Érik Canuel, which will be theatrically released jointly by BY Experience and Image Entertainment beginning Thursday, November 15 in New York and Los Angeles. BARRYMORE is based on the play by William Luce.

Luna Negra Dance Theater continues its family-oriented winter series, Luna Niños, this season with the second dance "episode" of the adventures of Moniquilla and friends, this year titled "Moniquilla and the Moon Monster," presented in three performances only at the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Due to Hurricane Sandy, the production team of MY FAIR LADY has lost valuable technical rehearsal time and experienced significant delays. Therefore, Arena Stage will be canceling the first preview performance of MY FAIR LADY this Friday, November 2. The Den Theatre will present a remount of TurnAround Theatre's original hit production of Brian Friel's FAITH HEALER, 17 years after the critically acclaimed show played to sold-out houses at TurnAround and Steppenwolf Theatres. Original cast members Brad Armacost, Lia D. Mortensen and Si Osborne return for the remount, which features the original direction by J.R. Sullivan.
