The controversial piece explores the spiritual implications of the financial collapse through the story of Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff, attempting to uncover hidden meanings in this contemporary tragedy. The New Amsterdam Singers, led by Clara Longstreth, will open its 45th season with a program entitled Comfort and Joy,featuring James MacMillan's Missa Brevis, the New York premieres of Judith Shatin's The God of Glory and Sheena Phillips's Two Carols, and works by Bach, Brahms, Victoria, Schutz, Randall Thompson, Abbie Betinis, and others. The concerts will take place Friday, December 7, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 9, at 4:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 122 East 88th Street (at Lexington Avenue).

The Hugo Boss Prize 2012 has been awarded to Danh Vo, announced Richard Armstrong, Director, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation, and Claus-Dietrich Lahrs, Chairman and CEO, HUGO BOSS AG. Vo is the ninth artist to receive the biennial honor that was established in 1996 to recognize significant achievement in contemporary art. The prize carries an award of $100,000 and is administered by the Guggenheim Foundation. An exhibition of Vo's work will be on view at the Guggenheim Museum in spring 2013.

Victory Gardens Theater announces the world premiere of Mojada by VG Associate Artist Luis Alfaro as its final play of the 2012-2013 season. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will bring the soundtrack of Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl to life in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center November 23-24, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. Guest Conductor Richard Kaufman, who has devoted much of his musical life to conducting and supervising music for film and television productions, will lead the Orchestra and the Atlanta Vocal Project in the score from the movie, which will be shown on a giant screen.

Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts announces new partnership with Temple University Early Childhood Education Program in presenting new monthly installment of FREE jazz and musical theater-focused programs for the 2012-13 PNC Grow Up Great Series.
