THE PEKING ACROBATS, a troupe of China's most gifted tumblers, contortionists, jugglers, cyclists, and gymnasts complemented by live musicians playing traditional Chinese instruments will bring to Santa Barbara and The Granada Theatre their 2,000-year-old tradition of acrobatics. One of rock's most powerful and legendary bands, THE WHO will be celebrated when The Who: Quadrophenia-Can You See The Real Me? airs Friday, January 4 at 10:00 PM (ET/PT) on BBC America. Originally screened earlier this year as a one-night in-theater event, the documentary takes fans on a riveting ride back to the 1970s when THE WHO's creative musical genius was taking the world's music stage by storm. The Who: Quadrophenia-Can You See the Real Me gives fans an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look into one of rock's most influential bands and the creation of their celebrated album, Quadrophenia originally released in October 1973.

Violinist and new music advocate Jennifer Koh will make her subscription series debut with the New York Philharmonic in January performing Chain 2: Dialogue for Violin and Orchestra by Polish conductor Witold Lutoslawski. She will perform the piece at three concerts: Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, January 25 at 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, January 26 at 8:00 p.m. The concerts will be held in Avery Fisher Hall and will be conducted by the orchestra's former music director, Lorin Maazel. The concerts open with Tchaikovsky's Romeo & Juliet, Overture-Fantasy and conclude with Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5.

A Noise Within (ANW), the acclaimed classical repertory theatre company, offers a free, one-night-only reading of JACK KIRKLAND's powerful drama TOBACCO ROAD on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, 7 pm, in its new state-of-the-art Pasadena theatre. Directed by Apollo Dukakis and featuring A Noise Within resident artists, this Depression-Era Broadway blockbuster, which exposes the South's social and racial injustices with biting satirical humor, portrays an ignorant, dysfunctional and hardscrabble family of Georgia sharecroppers whose spirits are as depleted as the soil in which they toil. Family patriarch Jeeter Lester and his clan are caught up in the excesses of evangelism and the dark side of lust as they strive just to survive the devastation of poverty. Tobacco Road, based on the novel by Erskine Caldwell, holds the record as the second longest running non-musical in Broadway history.

Stamford Center for the Arts and the Connecticut Ballet are teaming up to collect school supplies for the children of Sandy Hook Elementary School. Those attending the Ballet's The Nutcracker performances this Saturday and Sunday are asked to bring crayons, markers, lined paper, pencils, and teacher supplies to be dropped in the bins located in the lobby. These much needed supplies will help ease the transition into a new school building and bring a sense of normalcy to a very difficult situation. The supplies will be delivered to Sandy Hook's PTA next week.

Frequent recital partners Kirill Gerstein and Steven Isserlis will perform together in recital at the 92nd Street Y in New York on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. as part of the Distinguished Artists in Recital series in the Kaufmann Concert Hall. The recital will bring together 19th and 20th century composers in a program of songs and sonatas: Liszt's Romance oubliée for Cello and Piano and Die Zelle in Nonnenwerth for Cello and Piano; Busoni's Kultaselle, variations on a Finnish folksong for Cello and Piano; Brahms's Sonata for Cello and Piano No. 1 in E minor, Op. 38 and Sonata for Cello and Piano No. 2 in F minor, Op. 99; and, performed between the two Brahms sonatas, Bartók's Rhapsody for Cello and Piano.

Crime Scene: A Chicago Anthology is a timely new theatrical reaction to Chicago's history of violent crime and a call to discover what it might take to create lasting change in our city. The show, a Collaboraction world premiere conceived and directed by Anthony Moseley, couples nonfiction source material such as interviews, articles, and online comments with three true Chicago crimes to raise critical questions surrounding segregation, poverty, the news media, popular culture, and our numbness to it all.

Master directors such as David Cronenberg, Terence Davies, Hong Sang-soo, Bela Tarr, and Jafar Panahi (filming secretly while under house arrest) were all working at the top of their form in 2012, and there was also exciting work by new directors, such as the Brazilian critic-turned-filmmaker Kleber Mendonca Filho. Museum of the Moving Image will present a "Best of 2012" program of films, selected by Chief Curator David Schwartz and Assistant Film Curator Rachael Rakes, from January 8 through February 22, 2013.
