At a special recognition ceremony yesterday, June 21, Ilan added a 'dot' in honor of Dr. Maya Angelou at Angelou's home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. David Ilan is attempting to get a million people, each being represented by a dot, to make up the Michael Jackson tribute portrait. It was completed in Barcelona in 1901 when the artist was 20 years old, and is expected to fetch up to 1 million GBP at auction on June 22, 2010. Another item for sale is a Marc Chagall painting entitled 'La Revolution'. The painting represents scenes from the Russian war of 1917, and is expected to fetch up to 1.8 million GBP at auction on June 22, 2010.
