The Tony Award winning musical, Avenue Q, will welcome two new leads to the cast, the production has announced today. On July 9 Adam Kantor (who made his Broadway debut as Mark Cohen in the closing cast of RENT on Broadway) will join AVENUE Q in the roles of Princeton and Rod. On July 20, Veronica J. Kuehn (last seen on Broadway in MAMMA MIA) will assume the roles of Kate Monster and Lucy the Slut.

The producers of the musical CHICAGO announced today that the upcoming West End stage debut of world-renowned supermodel Christie Brinkley has been temporarily delayed.

The Boston Herald reports today that Boston's famed Colonial Theater, at which such classics as PROGY AND BESS, FOLLIES, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, OKLAHOMA! and more received their premieres, will close down indefinitely due to lack of occupancy. The theater will reportedly close following the final performance of WEST SIDE STORY this Saturday, July 9. The theater, which is operated by Emerson College had long been the home for Broadway Across America Boston.

Theatre for Humans, an arts and entertainment production company dedicated to telling the poignant stories of those impacted by current global issues, today announced its soon-to-be-titled inaugural project -- a powerful play that examines the challenges of women and girls in the United States and developing countries around the globe. Renowned playwright Marsha Norman, who was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for 'night, Mother and the Tony Award for The Secret Garden, will bring this inspirational, Off-Broadway piece to life in New York City beginning in the spring of 2013.

HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING will go on a two day hiatus tomorrow, July 7 and Friday, July 8, to accommodate Daniel Radcliffe's previously scheduled Harry Potter promotional obligations in the UK. Potter premieres in Trafalger Square in London tomorrow, July 7. HOW TO SUCCEED will resume performances on Saturday, July 9 for the 8pm performance only as regularly scheduled. Warner Brothers bought out the Al Hirschfeld Theatre for these dates to get Radcliffe to London for the event.

Norbert Leo Butz, Bobby Cannavale, Reeve Carney, Jennifer Damiano, Paige Davis, Sutton Foster, Joel Grey, John Larroquette, Joe Mantello, Patrick Page, Annabella Sciorra, Aaron Tveit and more join Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore for Broadway Barks, 2011.

On July 25, 2011 at 7pm, Susan Blackwell (Now. Here. This., [Title of Show]) and Joe Iconis (Things to Ruin, Bloodsong of Love) will join Larry Smith's next six-word memoir reading series at the 92YTribeca. Both Blackwell and Iconis are cooking up original six-word memoirs and backstories on the theme of: 'I'm only popular during summer camp: Six-Word Tales From Summer Camp, Summer Stock, & the Family Vacation.'

Last week, BroadwayWorld launched a new weekly poll series, beginning with the question of which Tony-winning or nominated show of old was the most desired Broadway revival. Though a close race, PIPPIN came out on top amongst thousands of votes with a 21% majority.

On June 29, 2011, The Bridge Project opened Richard III starring The Old Vic Artistic Director Kevin Spacey at The Old Vic in London. The production will embark on an international tour including the Athens & Epidaurus Festival, Spain's Centro Niemeyer, Hong Kong Arts Festival, and Singapore Repertory Theatre, arriving at BAM's Harvey Theater in New York in January 2012. For two weeks only this summer, Tony Award Winning stage and screen star Hugh Jackman is gracing the stage of The Princess of Wales Theatre with his one man show. After a sold-out run in San Francisco, Mirvish Productions has brought Jackman's show to Toronto, which opened to rave reviews last night, July 5. The show runs through July 17. Jackman's show consists of a personal selection of his favourite musical numbers including selections from 'The Boy from Oz' and stories from his own experiences in Hollywood. The Public Theater has announced initial casting today for KING LEAR, directed by James Macdonald this fall. Michael McKean, John Douglas Thompson and Enid Graham will play Gloucester, Kent and Goneril, respectively, joining the previously announced Sam Waterston as King Lear. KING LEAR will run October 18 - November 20 in the Newman Theater. Member tickets are $40; Single tickets, priced at $75-$85, will go on sale in August.

The Actors Fund's CelebriTee Golf & Tennis Outing will take place on Monday, July 25th, at the historic Knickerbocker Country Club in Tenafly, New Jersey. The outing will include a day of golf and tennis with big names in entertainment, all joining together to raise funds for The Actors Fund.

Bridget_Jones_20010101 As BroadwayWorld has previously reported, the musical version of Helen Fielding's popular novel, 'Bridget Jones's Diary,' is in the works with aspirations to open in the West End. Fielding is working with British recording artist Lily Allen and Greg Kurstin on the musical's score and lyrics and is working on the book with assistance from Julian Webber. Stephen Daldry, the director of BILLY ELLIOT, directed the recent workshop alongside Webber and choreographer Peter Darling; Working Title is producing the project.
