Alec Baldwin Bids Farewell to ROCK OF AGES FilmMay 10, 2011As recently announced, Bryan Cranston, Malin Akerman, and Russell Brand have been the latest stars added to the cast of the big screen adaptation of ROCK OF AGES. Also signed on the project are Tom Cruise, Julianne Hough, Mary J. Blige and Diego González Boneta. One once-confirmed star to depart their company is Alec Baldwin, who has reportedly pulled out of the film for unspecified reasons, The Hollywood Reporter reveals. Baldwin was set to play nightclub owner Dennis Dupree in the flick.

Photo Flash: Radcliffe on Tony Snub: 'I'm really OK!'May 10, 2011Last night, May 9, Daniel Radcliffe sat down with Jordan Roth at the 92nd Street Y to talk about the end of Harry Potter, How to Succeed in Business and, yes, the elephant on the Great White Way: his Tony nomination snub. As reported in Entertainment Weekly, when asked about his initial feelings towards being left off the Tony list, Radcliffe - ever the showman - reportedly responded: 'The thing that shocked me was everybody else's reaction to me, and how they started treating me - because it was like I lost a relative,' said Radcliffe. 'In my opinion, it was sweet, but over the top. People would ask me, ‘Are you OK?' And I'd go, ‘I'm really OK!'...The people that do this job for awards and recognition are kind of worshiping at the wrong altar, and I'm not really quite sure if I want to know those people.'

The production, which opened April 29 and runs through June 5, is directed by Rebecca Taichman, who delighted McCarter audiences with her 2009 production of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. CUNY Rescinds Kushner Honorary Degree Due to DisputeMay 5, 2011The New York Times reports this morning that board members of CUNY have voted to withdrawal an honorary degree that was to be presented to famed playwright Tony Kushner at John Jay College in light of offensive remarks they feel he made against Israel. Kushner has aggressively defended his remarks, stating that he feels 'dismayed by the vicious attack and wholesale distortion of my beliefs' on the part of CUNY and is asking for an apology from the university, adding that even if they were to reverse their decision, he would not accept the degree.
