Last night, May 12, SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark unveiled the new version of the mega musical. The official opening night of the new SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark is set for Tuesday, June 14th at the Foxwoods Theatre (213 West 42nd Street). Tickets are now on sale through October 2, 2011, with group tickets on sale through January 8, 2012. While the possibility had been discussed before, it's now being reported that Sonia Friedman (producer of the West End's Legally Blonde, Arcadia, La Cage Aux Folles, A Little Night Music, and many more) will take the show to London next year.

On May 3, Robert Britton Lyons, Million Dollar Quartet's original Carl Perkins, returned home to the Nederlander stage in the hit production. Lyons is just back from West End, where he originated the role of Perkins in Million Dollar Quartet for London audiences. Original co-star Hunter Foster rejoined the produciton on May 3, as well.

Earlier reports of Alec Baldwin's departure from the upcoming big screen adaptation of ROCK OF AGES may be inaccurate. The star had been said to have withdrawn for unspecified reasons, according to The Hollywood Reporter. THR now reports that

Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda guest starred on ABC's hit comedy 'Modern Family' as a dog trainer who helps Gloria (Sofia Vergara) last night, May 11th. Says Miranda of his character in TV Guide: 'My character is this pathetic loser who Gloria can't say no to...I'm in her house, I have no business being there, but it's fun being in the middle of Gloria and Jay because they're my favorite couple on the show.' Now gracing the cover of the latest Billboard Magazine, Beyonce reveals that her upcoming ablum, entitled 4, is largely inspired by the late Fela Kuti - subject of last season's Broadway hit Fela! produced by her husband Jay-Z. The album is set for release next month.

Next season the Geffen Playhouse is introducing Angelenos to acclaimed new works - including the previously announced Red Hot Patriot: The Kick Ass Wit of Molly Ivins featuring Kathleen Turner, Pulitzer Prize nominee The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity by Kristoffer Diaz and Tony Award nominee Next Fall by Geoffrey Nauffts - as well as introducing the theater community at large to three world premieres - including a stage adaptation of The Exorcist by Edgar Award winner John Pielmeier (Agnes of God), The Jacksonian, a new work by Pulitzer Prize winner Beth Henley, and Radiance: The Passion of Marie Curie, the playwriting debut of actor Alan Alda. In addition to the acclaimed playwrights represented this season, the Geffen Playhouse is welcoming internationally lauded directors to helm these works including Tony Award winners John Doyle and Robert Falls.

The Stage News reports this morning that Dress Circle, the 'longest-running showbusiness and musical theatre shop in the world' is in danger of closing unless immediate investment funds can be raised. The historic shop, located in London's theatre district of Covent Garden, first opened its doors in 1977 and has since been the go-to place for theater merchandise and memorabilia, sheet music, musical theater CDs and things of the like. It has also hosted may book and CD signings with countless stars.

Producers Whoopi Goldberg and Stage Entertainment have announced that the Tony-nominated Broadway musical SISTER ACT will launch a North American tour at Toronto's Canon Theatre in the fall of 2012. Additional cities, dates and casting will be announced at a later date. The North American tour of SISTER ACT will be booked by The Road Company.

The Public Theater and 3-Legged Dog have been invited by Director General Noam Semel to perform their acclaimed production of THE HUMAN SCALE at The Cameri Theatre in Tel Aviv, Israel, making it the first American production at The Cameri in its 66-year history. Written and performed by Pulitzer Prize-winner Lawrence Wright and directed by Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis, THE HUMAN SCALE will make its Israeli premiere on Wednesday, May 18 and run through Saturday, May 21 at Cameri Theatre 4, located at 18 Shaul Hamelech Boulevard.

Today, May 11, George Michael announces his 'Symphonica' European Orchestral Tour at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London. This is the first time Michael will return to the road since his 25Live tour. The concert will feature selections from his own songs performed during his 30 year career in addition to showcasing covers of some fan favorites. All songs will be rearranged and reorchestrated to accommodate a classical orchestra.

Yesterday, May 10, legendary actress Mia Farrow was honored with the 2011 Marian Anderson Award at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia. Farrow accepted the Award at a Gala Concert produced in partnership with The Philadelphia Orchestra, which will take place on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.

On Monday, May 9, the Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles hosted an evening with Fox's Bones.

The musical theater classic, The Wiz, the iconic African-American re-telling of The Wizard Of Oz made famous by Motown Productions' cult movie starring Diana Ross as Dorothy, Michael Jackson as The Scarecrow and Richard Pryor as The Wiz, will be revived in a new production that will tour Birmingham and Leeds this summer. In Birmingham, the production will The New Alexandria Theatre from Friday, 10 Jun 2011 through Saturday 18 Jun 2011. From there, the production will play Leeds at the West Yorkshire Playhouse from June 24 through July 16.
