New York Magazine editor-in-chief Adam Moss announced today that Scott Brown will be the magazine's theater critiC. Brown joins New York Magazine's staff and will write reviews for both the print magazine and the web, and daily posts to the Vulture online entertainment magazine. Brown has been a part-time reviewer for the magazine for the last two years and he starts in his new capacity on September 21.

Brown previously spent seven years as a writer at Entertainment Weekly, covering theater, movies, and television, and is concluding his tenure as a columnist for Wired, covering the intersection of pop culture and technology.

"I'm thrilled that Scott is joining us as a full-time voice on theater, across print and the web," says editor-in-chief Adam Moss. "Over the last two years readers have gotten to know his great big voice, sense of humor, and inside knowledge of theater, that make him the ideal person to expand our theater coverage."

In his writings for the magazine and website, Brown will look to broaden New York's approach to theater. His work at Vulture will seek to bring readers into the conversation, encouraging commenting and playing provocative host to a theater community online.
