Guest Blogger: Sean Fenton

Sean Fenton has been a regular contributor to the Bay Area Children's Theatre since 2005, with James and the Giant Peach marking his sixteenth production with the company. Bay Area audiences may also remember Sean as "The Old Man of the Moon" in BACT's adaptation of Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, for which he, the entire ensemble, and director Mina Morita were honored with Theatre Bay Area Awards in 2014. Behind the scenes at BACT, Sean has directed several shows, including the crowd favorite Pinkalicious. He has also served as vocal director and music supervisor for 10 productions, including the world premiere Ivy + Bean, the Musical, and the national tours of Strega Nona: the Musical and The Magic School Bus, Live! The Climate Challenge. Other companies Sean has worked for include TheatreWorks, Custom Made Theatre Company, Altarena Playhouse, Broadway By the Bay, Foothill Music Theatre, and Kaiser Permanente Educational Theatre.
 
In addition to his work as a theatre artist, Sean holds a degree in cultural and social anthropology from Stanford University and is an arts researcher and consultant at WolfBrown, one of the country's top providers of research-based knowledge to the cultural sector. As co-director of WolfBrown's Intrinsic Impact audience feedback program, Sean has played a seminal role in bringing new audience research tools and methods to cultural organizations around the globe. He works closely with marketing, education, and artistic staff of organizations such as Center Theatre Group, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Arts Club Theatre Company, Cornerstone Theatre Company, and Childsplay; speaks regularly at national conferences; and is a guest lecturer at graduate programs such as the Yale School of Drama.
