Guest Blogger: Derrick Fury

Born in Houston Texas, “Derrick Fury” relocated to Lake Charles Louisiana, just months after his birth. A product of divorce, he grew up in a series of housing projects in what Brits would call the “dodgy end of town." A constant outsider, the formative years of his life were spent in a gypsy like manor, moving form city to city and state to state, before he finally came full circle and returned to the place of his birth. As a result, Derrick developed multi-cultural world view, as is reflected in his films today.

Longing to fulfill his life’s ambition, to become a filmmaker, Derrick currently studies at Houston Community Colleges, where in 2014 he was awarded the “HCC Student Filmmaker Academy Award” for his short film entitled, “House on the Sand”. Derrick Fury finds humor in the everyday, so-called norms of life and challenges the audiance to see things from a his (slightly off) perspective.
