Guest Blogger: Casey Hebbel

This marks Casey's fifth summer with Transcendence, having been involved since the very first season. She holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Belmont University and is currently pursuing her Masters of Arts in Teaching Theatre, also from Belmont. Casey is a resident of Nashville, TN where she works as both a performer and educator. She is a teaching artist at Nashville Children's Theatre, the oldest Equity children's theatre in the country. Here she not only teaches students, but also works with fellow educators on ways to incorporate drama and drama activities into everyday, core curriculum such as math, english, history, and science. At The Theater Bug, also in Nashville, Casey works as a choreographer and director. The Bug produces original plays and musicals that address difficult issues facing youth such as adoption, autism, teen depression and suicide, and more. As a performer, Casey has performed around the country in theatres such as Flat Rock Playhouse, the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, Summer Repertory Theatre, and Studio Tenn, and in New York with Musicals Tonight. Favorite roles include: Kate Monster (Avenue Q), April (Company), Christine (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), Penny (Hairspray), and Electra/Ms. Cratchit (Gypsy). Casey is wildly passionate about arts education as well as general education through the arts. She truly believes that the way in which Transcendence is using art has the power to change the world!
