4TH Wall Theatre Company is opening their staging of HAMLET, which is best on the off-Broadway company Bedlam’s recent production. It’s a stripped-down version where four actors play over thirty different roles. But one man in the center only plays the titular HAMLET.

D. Jerome is originally from North Carolina and is described as a formidable triple threat; many of his past shows indicate that. Broadway World writer Brett Cullum got to catch up with him, right before he hits the stage as the Tin Man!

I'll tell you why I decided to do it; then I'll tell you about the toughness, but I read this about 1999, and just loved it. It made the hairs on my arms stand up, especially visualizing the very last scene with the entire cast swaying back and forth, and giving the illusion of them not swaying. You're not sure if they are or not.

Do you ever feel bad making fun of some of these folks? Because I mean, let's face it, Broadway actors. They take themselves a little bit seriously. I am terrified of interviewing Patti Lupone!

Stages Houston has wisely brought in DIXIE’S TUPPERWARE PARTY for its last hurrah, and she is doing a mini-residency that the purveyor of plastic is in the middle of until April 20th. The simple show works well in the intimacy of the Sterling Theater space, and we’re closer to the saleswoman than we ever have been.

I was born in Tokyo, Japan, and lived there till I was around ten. My mother met my father in the States. But then, when they got married, they moved back to Japan, had babies raised us, and then my mother remarried. I guess when I was ten, we moved to DC because of his job. I've been here ever since.

I have had a couple of run-ins. I've been married three times. I have three kids that I know of. I was doing things and I never thought I would be a Tupperware lady. I was doing things that normally weren't panning out from where I was from. My mama said, “I'm not pretty enough to work at this strip club!”

I like to write all the time and generally write two plays a year, just because I take very seriously the notion of this being my profession. I would say playwright is spelled WRIGHT [write]. It's like a Cartwright or a wheelwright. It's somebody who rolls up their sleeves and does their work.

It’s a word that has divided people for generations, so much so that I won’t even write it in this review. Rising Houston actor Cardero Berryman thoughtfully directs N; surprisingly, this is his first time at the helm of a play. He has a wonderful cast, great technical support, and the appropriately intimate Company OnStage theater space to produce the piece in.

It has a stunning cast, technical brilliance, and enough great poetic ideas to keep you thinking about it for days. It’s an intriguing piece that should have a long life. But in its current iteration playing at the MATCH, THE FROZEN SECTION runs long at almost two hours with no intermission, and the pacing seems off throughout its inflated run time.

It is a show presented by Shunya Theatre that will be at the MATCH complex from April 10th through the 13th. The play's premise is that a meet-cute at a temple results in a romance between Naveen Gavaskar and Keshav — a Hindi-speaking, Bollywood-loving man who happens to be white. As the love story unfolds, the Gavaskar household must also brace itself for the return of Naveen's older sister, Arundhathi.

This show is an amazing achievement where the right script, cast, and creative team come together to produce something unique and visionary. MEMORIAM is a blend of the best of all the theatrical arts combined and sparks a fiery storm of emotions.

The Frozen Section is set in a grocery store at the edge of the world. It is about a community of people living in a world with far fewer people and a much harder, harder way of living.

Main Street Theater is launching a very special production at its Rice Village location. It’s a world premiere, MEMORIAM, from March 29th through April 19th, and written by Noga Flaishon, a self-described 'neurodivergent Israeli writer/producer based in London.' The story concerns a company called Memoriam Incorporated that digitizes people's memories so customers can experience them fully, even feeling the sensations of past events.
