West Palm Beach's Palm Beach Dramaworks, will launch its 11th Anniversary Season with 'Candida,' the acclaimed play by the Nobel Prize winning playwright George Bernard Shaw on Friday, October 8th (8PM) at their downtown theatre (322 Banyan Boulevard.) Special priced preview performances are slated for October 6th & 7th (8PM) and the production will play through November 21st.

James added a new spin to the traditional ghost story by writing it entirely from the governess' perspective, leaving the reader to interpret her account's accuracy and truthfulness. The glittering, effervescent, tirelessly funny DAME EDNA EVERAGE will light up the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall with her purple-hued hair and sassy Aussie wit on April 13 and 14, 2011. The Tony Award-winning dame from Down Under brings her stage show to Miami for two evenings of glitz, glamour, and her signature gladiolas. West Palm Beach's only resident professional theatre, Palm Beach Dramaworks will kick off its 11th Anniversary season with George Bernard Shaw's play 'Candida' on Friday, October 8th (8PM) at their intimate downtown theatre (322 Banyan Boulevard). The season will continue with a distinguished roster of plays including the southeast premiere of 'Freud's Last Session' by Mark St. Germain, 'Dinner With Friends' by Donald Margulies and 'The Beauty Queen of Leenane' by Martin McDonagh.

It's the early 1970s and the Weismann Theatre in New York is about to be demolished. Before the wrecking ball transforms the theatre into a parking lot, a reunion is taking place for members of the Weismann Follies. As the evening goes on, the former performers relive many of their past experiences, both good and bad. Sally, a former Follie, meets the man that she's always loved, Ben, and the two middle-aged people end up kissing. By the end of the night though, they each go back to their perspective spouses and the various Follies continue on with their lives.

GableStage is proud to announce that local playwright and Carbonell Award nominee, Michelle Rosenfarb, was recently accepted into the MFA Dramatic Writing Program at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and will commence this prestigious program in the fall. To help support her educational endeavors, GableStage will be housing a benefit playreading of her award-winning, The Gates of Choice. All proceeds will go to the playwright. Critically acclaimed, The Gates of Choice, received its world premiere production at New Theatre in Coral Gables during their 2008-2009 season, and is the work that gained Ms. Rosenfarb attention on the theatre map.

The Gulfshore Playhouse Theatre Education Project serves Southwest Florida through a wide variety of unique educational opportunities. The programming provides people from the diverse community accessibility to the art of theatre. Stranded on a deserted island with his daughter, a usurped duke is granted his chance at revenge. By invoking a storm, he shipwrecks the man who ruined him. Also among the passengers is the young man who awakens his daughter's first stirrings of love.
