The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County presents City Theatre's 17th annual SUMMER SHORTS FESTIVAL, South Florida's fast and furiously fun program of the nation's hottest short plays, staged in the intimate Carnival Studio Theater (Ziff Ballet Opera House) from June 1-17, 2012. Under the new direction of Producing Artistic Director John Manzelli, the sizzling 17th season of the company's acclaimed SUMMER SHORTS FESTIVAL features fifteen performances of ten original short plays - some raucous, others innovative and poignant, but with the ultimate goal to make audiences laugh.

The Emerging Artists Showcase is a unique partnership between a professional, regional theater and a secondary school theatre program. Its purpose is to present selected graduates from the AW Dreyfoos School of Arts Theatre Program to the South Florida theatre/film community. The showcase is directed by Kenneth Kay (a Carbonell award-winning director and former Producing Artistic Director of the Blowing Rock Stage Company, North Carolina) in collaboration with Beverly Blanchette (Dreyfoos Theatre Dean/Acting Director) and Bruce Linser (Dreyfoos Music Theatre Director). The showcase includes songs, scenes, and monologues from popular, contemporary plays/musicals along with original works.

Fanny Brice, America's Funny Girl will open May 23, 2012 and run until June 17, 2012. Previews begin May 20. Florida Repertory Theatre announced the opening of the final show in its 2011-2012 season, The Mystery of Irma Vep, a funny, and fast-paced spoof of classic melodrama. Running May 4-20, with three nearly sold out discounted previews on May 1, 2, and 3, The Mystery of Irma Vep is two parts The 39 Steps, one part Jane Eyre, and four parts witty.
