Longtime casting director Shirley Rich passed away on December 28th, 2009 at the age of 87 in Greenwich Connecticut of natural causes. Referred to by the New York Times as the 'doyenne of New York casting directors,' Rich's career covered Broadway plays and Hollywood films, with actors such as Judd Hirsch, Sean Penn, and Tom Cruise.

Husband and wife Howard Panter and Rosemary Squire, the joint chief executives of Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) have been named as the most influential people in UK Theatre, as published by The Stage today.

Theatre Plus will present the world premiere of Sweet Tooth by Mark Wild, February 4-20, 2010. The new comedy was selected as one of only three Finalists in the 2008 Maxim Mazumdar New Play Competition and will be directed by Lorna C. Hill. The show will play at Alleyway Theatre in Buffalo's Historic Theatre District. Sweet Tooth is the third production of Theatre Plus' fourteenth season dedicated to presenting theatre that focuses on the talents and interests of women.

Sioux Empire Community Theater is set to run On Golden Pond from Friday, February 12 through Sunday, February 14, 2010.

New Stage Theatre is set to run Boeing Boeing, by Marc Camoletti, adapted by Beverley Cross, from January 26 through February 7, 2010.

Orlando Shakespeare Theater is set to run Hamlet from January 27 through March 13, 2010 as part of their Signature Series at the Margeson Theater.

Humu Kahua Theatre presents House Lights & Prolonged Sunglight, by Eric Yokomori, running January 14 through February 14.

Founded in 1959, the San Francisco Mime Troupe creates and produces socially relevant theater; their work is political satire and anything but silent. Recently, as part of their 50th anniversary celebration, the Troupe led it's first 'Anti-Capitalist, Anti-Consumption' street-theater workshop in downtown San Francisco outside of the Old Navy store on Market Street.

The New York City premiere of Jamie M. Fox's MazelTov Cocktail will be presented for a limited four-week engagement at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre January 26 through February 20 with opening night set for Wednesday, February 3 at 8pm. Maria Mileaf (A Body of Water and Lobster Alice) will direct the 90-minute dark comedy that is penned and performed by Fox and produced by Marilyn Ziering.

Red Bull Theater's Revelation Readings series will feature Martha Plimpton, Michael Emerson and more. The series began readings on September 14th and will continue the series through June 14, 2010. The series is meant to rediscover neglected classics, and to develop new plays of heightened language and classical themes.

The Buffalo United Artists present True Love Lies by Brad Fraser. This production will run January 8-30h on Friday and Saturday nights at 8pm.
