The New York Film Festival has announced that this year's festival will open with 'The Social Network,' written by Aaron Sorkin (THE FARNSWORTH INVENTION, A FEW GOOD MEN) and directed by David Fincher. The film stars Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, and Justin Timberlake. 'The Social Network' focuses on Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of Facebook.

Director Anna D. Shapiro of Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre Company has been awarded the 2010 Princess Grace Statue Award, The Princess Grace Foundation has announced. Shapiro previously received a Princess Grace Theater Apprenticeship in 1996.

Theatre Exile launches our 2010/2011 season with the Philadelphia Premiere of Iron by Rona Munro. Directed by Deborah Block, Exile's co-artistic director and the founding program director of the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival and Philly Fringe, Iron runs September 8th through October 10th at Theatre Exile's new Studio X, with the press opening Saturday, September 11th at 8pm.

The New York Theatre Workshop has announced the complete cast for its upcoming production of Lillian Hellman's THE LITTLE FOXES. In addition to the previously announced Elizabeth Marvel as Regina Giddens, the production will feature Tina Benko, Marton Csokas, Lynda Gravatt, Cristin Milioti, Thomas Jay Ryan, Greig Sargeant, Sanjit De Silva, Christopher Evan Welch, and Nick Westrate.

Tickets for the upcoming Broadway production of George Bernard Shaw's play Mrs. Warren's Profession go on sale to the general public on July 30. The production, to be produced by the Roundabout Theatre Company, will star Tony® Award winner Cherry Jones as Kitty Warren and Golden Globe winner Sally Hawkins making her Broadway debut as Vivie Warren and will be directed by Tony® Award winner Doug Hughes at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway (227 West 42nd St). Floyd Mutrux, head of MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET co-production company American Pop Anthology, has plans to bring more musicals based on rock groups to Broadway, Variety reports. Of his plans, Mutrux says, 'With American Pop Anthology, I've written a series of stories about the people who made the music that changed the culture of our country from the 1950s to 1980s, which ended with MTV...MTV took all the mystery out of rock 'n' roll. The record companies spent the money making videos and they stopped putting money into groups touring.'
