Review: FLASHDANCE at Stadthalle Wien

First, when there's nothing........just take a famous movie and adapt it for the stage, voilá, you got a musical.

FLASHDANCE THE MUSICAL is one of that kind. Robbie Roth (Music, Lyrics), Robert Cary(Lyrics, Book) and Tom Hedely (Book) transformed the 1983 movie into a stage show. FLASHDANCE is now hitting the road for a German Speaking Tour.

The plot about young Alex Owens (Maria Danaé-Bansen) welder by day and dancer by night, is set in the not so glamorous Pittsburgh. Alex is chasing her dream to get into the famous Shipley Dance Academy. Holding on to your dream, nevermind how impossible it may look like. FLASHDANCE does what FLASHDANCE can do, entertain you on a comfortable level, including the well-known showstoppers Maniac, Manhunt, Gloria and the shows signature song What A Feeling.

Maria Danaé-Bansen has got the looks and the moves to bring Alex, famously played in the movie by Jennifer Beals, alive. Supported by an ambitious cast, Maria Danaé-Bansen is taking you out of your seat and straight into the Flashdance Pittsburgh.

FLASHDANCE had its Opening Night at the Theatre Royal in Plymouth followed by a West End Run in London. After opening the German Version in Hamburg the Show is now On Tour through Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.
