Windmill Theatre Presents BIG BAD WOLF, Now thru July 13

Windmill continues its mission to create great theatre that engages children and family audiences with its latest home-grown production Big Bad Wolf.

Set to premiere during the July school holidays from today, 6 - 13 July in the Space Theatre, Adelaide Festival Centre, the show is suitable for ages five and over.

Big Bad Wolf longs for a friend, but his sharp teeth, yellow eyes and dubious personal hygiene mean no one wants to play with him. Luckily the over-achieving Heidi Hood is brave enough to double-check his bad press and an unlikely friendship is born in this table-turning tale.

Award-winning director and writer duo RoseMary Myers and Matthew Whittet were excited about playing with the imaginations of children in this age range.

"From the moment the artists came together to work on this production we had a playful time creating a new fairytale world, one that is joyful, funny and full of quirky characters. Matthew Whittet is one of Australia's leading original voices, and the story he's created of a poetry writing vegemetarian Wolf is equal parts hilarious and touching. It's a tale that reminds us all that great friendships can be found in the most unlikely of places," says Rosemary.

Windmill favourite Patrick Graham stars as the toothy Wolfy (pictured above), and is joined by Emma J Hawkins(Circus Oz; Love Never Dies) and Kate Cheel (Hedda Gabler; Glass Menagerie), who make their debut Windmill performance.

Harry Covill's original soundtrack is full of catchy tunes and Windmill's resident set designer Jonathon Oxlade(The Wizard of Oz; Pinocchio; Grug; School Dance) has played with perspective and created a set full of magic which includes a talking couch.

Free school holiday arts workshops in the foyer follow each performance.

Big Bad Wolf plays today 6 July at 2pm and 5pm; 8 to 12 July at 10am and 2pm and 13 July at 2pm and 5pm. Performance duration is 50 minutes.
