Queensland Theatre Company Hosts 2010 Emerging Artist Program

How do you become a professional theatre director, actor or lighting designer? Queensland Theatre Company is showing eight up-and-coming Queensland artists how, in their 2010 Emerging Artist program, supported by Brisbane Airport Corporation.

Artistic Director Michael Gow commented "The Emerging Artist program is a great opportunity - we take talented artists from across the industry and give them hands on experience for a year working on Queensland Theatre Company shows and initiatives.

"In 2010 we have directors, actors, lighting and sound designers all taking part in the program and they'll be working on Queensland Theatre Company's productions and tours, regional programs and take part in workshops with experts in their individuAl Fields".

2010 Emerging Artists

Tony Brumpton, Sound Designer. During 2010 Tony is working on The Little Dog Laughed, Fat Pig, Waiting for Godot and Hurry Up and Wait!

Jason Glenwright, Lighting Designer. In 2010 Jason will work on The Little Dog Laughed, Thom Pain (based on nothing) and regional program initiatives.

Melanie Wild, Director. Melanie is Assistant Director for the 2010 tour of Toy Symphony, Let the Sunshine, Fat Pig and Assistant Dramaturg for the 2010/11 Queensland Premier's Drama Award Finalists development.

Melanie Zanetti, Actor. Melanie performed in The Little Dog Laughed and will play multiple roles in Grimm Tales and read for Company creative development workshops.

2010 Creative Assistants

Within the Emerging Artist Program are Creative Assistant roles. Creative Assistants work on a particular production during the year and observe the professional process.
