QPAC Choir Celebrates The Music Of The Eighties Get ready to Pump Up the Volume as the QPAC Choir takes you back to the 80s with its 2018 Showcase Concert - POP Goes The 80s on Tuesday 29 May in the Queensland Performing Arts Centre's (QPAC) Concert Hall.

Following the sold out 2017 QPAC Choir showcase concert ABBA: Thank You For The Music: An ABBA Celebration, the 180-voice QPAC Choir, under choirmaster Timothy Sherlock, will perform a selection of some of the biggest pop hits from the 1980s in this one night only concert.

POP Goes The 80s will feature songs from great female artists such as Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Joan Jett, Whitney Houston, Toni Basil and The Bangles along with hits from popular male performers like Michael Jackson, Lionel Ritchie, Rick Springfield, Kenny Loggins and many more!

Choirmaster Timothy Sherlock said QPAC Choir's annual showcase concert is one of the highlights in the Choir's performance calendar.

"Our showcase concert is a wonderful opportunity for members to collaborate with other local artists, add to their live performance experience, and showcase the results of their many months of rehearsals.

"Everyone loves the music of the 80s and we can't wait to present some of the greatest hits from this decade. The choir is loving going back to this era of bright colours, leg warmers and of course fabulous music. I know that audiences are going to be singing along and no doubt up on their feet dancing as they experience this fun and upbeat concert, POP Goes The 80s," said Mr Sherlock.

Along with the QPAC Choir, the concert will feature an 8-piece live band and special guest performers, including 3rd year students from the Bachelor of Musical Theatre course at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University.

POP Goes the 80s will offer audiences a sense of how music and culture evolved across the hedonistic decade. You'll want to Dance with Somebody at this great celebration with the QPAC Choir and guest artists. Don't miss out or you will be Hungry Like the Wolf. Book now at qpac.com.au or phone 136 246.
