Australian jazz singer Josh Kyle releases his debut album, Possibilities, at home today, May 19, 2012 and goes on tour to promote the release, 11 May to 21 June.

A shining graduate from the Australian Institute of Music and already gigging at leading venues and with some of finest musicians working in the country, Josh relocated to the UK in 2009.

He began a musical collaboration with Geoff Gasgoyne, the producer and bassist who had performed and arranged for many years for Jamie Callum: “In Josh Kyle, I have found a singer with an outstanding vocal technique and vocal range who has absorbed the music of the great jazz singers and has developed his own his own unique sound and style.”

Over the next 12 months they created the album Possibilities, which was launched at the London International Jazz Festival. The album showcases Josh’s outstanding vocals as well as Geoff’s contemporary arrangements and production, with influences ranging from jazz, pop, soul and R&B to European Electronica.

Possibilities is made up of eleven tracks, including two groove-based original compositions co-written by Josh and Geoff. Two great jazz ballads - Round Midnight and Stardust - demonstrate Josh’s creative vocal ability and are proof that he can connect emotionally with the standard jazz repertoire while making them his own. Josh has written lyrics to great jazz tunes by Herbie Hancock, Victor Feldman, Jimmy Rowles, Wayne Shorter and Larry Willis, also reimagined the standard The Thrill is Gone and Amazon, a song by Djavan performed originally by the great Betty Carter.

Josh has now relocated to Melbourne, where he will be releasing Possibilities at home and is preparing for a major tour to launch it.
