Adelaide Theatre Guild Presents A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE, 5/14

Eddie Carbone is a hardworking Italian-American longshoreman living in a lower working class neighbourhood of Brooklyn with his wife Beatrice and orphaned niece Catherine. They lead a simple but happy life until Beatrice's exotic Sicilian cousins arrive one night and turn their world upside down. Loves and loyalties are tested as the new arrivals settle in leading to a catastrophic climax. Was it inevitable or did Eddie have the power to alter "the bloody course"?

Written and set at the height of the post-war illegal immigration boom, Arthur Miller's A View from the Bridge is a taut drama of Greek proportions that explores the themes of law and justice, trust and betrayal, innocence and sexual awakening but most of all, loyalty and honour.

Arthur Miller is regarded as one of the greatest dramatists of the twentieth century and A View from the Bridge was recently revived to great critical acclaim both on Broadway and in London's West End.

Director John Graham has assembled an outstanding multicultural cast of exciting new talent and faces familiar to Adelaide audiences comprising Charlotte Batty, Lauren Barnes, Joshua Coldwell, Geoff Dawes, Marcin Holownia, Tom Kontogonis, Sharon Malujlo, Steve Marvanek, Domenic Panuccio, Jack Robins and featuring Nigel Tripodi as Eddie Carbone.
