A DATE WITH MS FORTUNE Looks for Love at The Butterfly Club
"WTF? Why not try an internet date?" thinks recently divorced Steve. With a little creativity on his profile and nothing to lose but his dignity, Steve ventures to the Butterfly Club on his first internet date. Ms Fortune awaits. A clever, comical, poignant cabaret, all original songs, written and performed by Gerard Ingham and Suzanne Hobson.
Come with Beth and Steve on a journey across the treacherous terrain of their first date. Their profiles suggest they are a perfect match but are they who they say they are? It's delicate, sometimes uncomfortable, but always entertaining when boy meets girl for the first time, even when you're a little older. Unburdened in some ways but burdened in others. Grist for the comedy mill.
Steve and Beth show their talent and whip out guitars, pianos and a variety of other instruments during their date. Ya gotta love a musical.
Gerard Ingham and Suzanne Hobson are accomplished writers and performers with credits including "GP The Musical" a sold out show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. They are experienced cabaret performers and comedy writers, and over the years have supported people including Dave Graney (as well as their own children).
A Date with Ms Fortune grew from songs Gerard and Suzanne had written about the vagaries of middle-aged life and watching the quest of others to mate before it's too late.
The show opens on the 3rd May and runs till Sunday the 7th May. Expect a little middle aged musical mayhem.
