The newly formed Austin Actors' Studio presents the classic Tony winning play The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Texas native Jay Presson Allen and directed by Milton R. Zoth. Set in Edinburgh, Scotland in the 1930’s The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie is a cautionary tale about a passionate, charismatic, narcisstic teacher and her “brood” of students. Miss Brodie does not conform to the conservative curriculum at school, preferring to focus on beauty and art. Her students and admirers adore her and she loves the adoration. Miss Brodie is larger than life and a born leader. However, the way she leads causes concern and eventual her betrayal. Her fire shines light into the darkness, but as is the nature of fire it also burns
The production opens Friday, August 17 and runs weekends to Sunday, September 2 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, 5901 SW Parkway, Austin Texas 78735. Show times are 8:00pm on Friday and Saturday and 3:00pm on Sunday. Tickets can be purchased at the Long Center Box Office or at the door.
