The Liminal Sound Series presents  Alex Coke: Compositions with The Mood Illusion at The Carousel Lounge

In what promises to be a stellar evening of excellent composition and musicianship,  sax and flute master Alex Coke performs his own music with Austin's alternative lounge band Mood Illusion, 9pm, Tuesday February 28, 2017 at The Carousel Lounge. A Dallas native and righteous contender in the tough Texas Tenor tradition (whose flute chops make good argument for a tough Texas flutist poll), Alex Coke's multifarious projects have included studies of Leadbelly and prison work songs, musical meditations on war and peace, an award winning post bop band, the Worthy Constituents, a frequent featured soloist with Klezmer, Cuban, Indian, and African musicians, and as a touring and recording member of both Texas' Creative Opportunity Orchestra  and Holland's illustrious Willem Breuker Kollektief.  The Mood Illusion is a group of musicians that put lounge music through the blender of open improvisation and medieval composition.  The core group features producer of the Liminal Sound Series, Bob Hoffnar, on pedal steel guitar,   with Stephen Bidwell on drums, Mike St Clair on trombone and Janie Cowan on bass.
