WaterTower Theatre Announces New Education Program, RECESS

By:

WaterTower Theatre Announces New Education Program, RECESS ImageJoanie Schultz, Artistic Director, today announced details of the Company's new professional development initiative for DFW artists. In an effort to provide more flexible educational opportunities for DFW theatre artists to stretch themselves creatively, WaterTower Theatre is excited to announce its new artistic lab series, RECESS, led by WTT Artistic Director Joanie Schultz.

Over six weeks, artists will have the opportunity to participate in six unique 2-day "labs." In these labs, theatre artists will create short solo or group performance pieces to build skills as theatre creators. Each lab will be completely stand alone with a different creative prompt, and will work on different theatre-creating skills each week. WaterTower Theatre invites theatre makers of all kinds, ages 18+, to join: actors, directors, designers, choreographers, or however you identify. Whether or not an artist has devised a piece of theatre or not, RECESS will give artists an opportunity to give it a shot! WaterTower Theatre's RECESS will create a safe space to flex your artistic muscles and collaborate with others. Skip class - come to RECESS!

RECESS will take place in the rehearsal room at WaterTower Theatre, located in the Addison Theatre Centre. Each 2-day lab takes place on Sunday and Monday from 7pm-10pm on the following dates:

-August 19 & 20

-August 26 & 27

-September 9 & 10

-September 16 & 17

-September 23 & 24

-September 30 & October 1

Each 2-day lab is $50 per artist. Sign up for all six labs for a discounted rate of $250. Weekly lab capacity is set at 10 people, so act quickly before slots fill up.
