Craig Wright to be Honored with 2009 Horton Foote Excellence in American Playwriting Award, 11/5

The Horton Foote Festival will honor critically acclaimed playwright Craig Wright as the 2009 recipient of the Horton Foote Excellence in American Playwriting Award, according to notes on the Horton Foote Festival website. Amongst the events taking place during the festival weekend on November 5-7 will be readings of Wright's plays ‘Grace' and ‘The Pavilion', academic panel discussions of his work, and a tribute to Horton Foote.

Wright's writing career has included award-winning plays such as Orange Flower Water, The Pavilion, and Grace, as well as several television shows including Lost, Six Feet Under, and Dirty Sexy Money. His recent and upcoming productions include The Unseen at the Humana Festival at Actors Theatre of Louisville and at Stages Rep in Houston. He also directed a production of The Unseen at the Road Theatre in Los Angeles.

The Horton Foote American Playwrights Festival is a semi-annual celebration of American play writing. It is held at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, in honor of one of America's leading playwrights and screenwriters, Horton Foote.
