Pianist Yulianna Avdeeva at Spivey Hall at Spivey Hall

Russian pianist Yulianna Avdeeva makes her highly anticipated Spivey Hall debut with a program pairing Shostakovich and Chopin. January 2027 marks the 100th anniversary of the International Chopin Competition—an event once entered by a young Dmitri Shostakovich and later won by Avdeeva herself. Her recent recording of Shostakovich received widespread critical acclaim, lauded for its intellectual depth, technical precision, and nuanced, often understated interpretation. Whether illuminating the poetic intimacy of Chopin or the dramatic intensity of later repertoire, Avdeeva plays with a compelling sense of purpose that draws listeners deeply into the music.
