Freaky Friday
Now through April 22, 2018

When an overworked mother and her teenage daughter magically swap bodies, they have just one day to put things right again before mom's big wedding. Freaky Friday, a new musical based on the celebrated novel by Mary Rodgers and the two hit Disney movies, is a hilarious and heartfelt update of an American classic in which a mother and daughter really see what it takes to be a family when they experience each other's lives first-hand for just one freaky Friday.

With a score by the Pulitzer Prize-winning composers of Next to Normal and If/Then and a book from the writer of TV's Friday Night Lights and Parenthood, Freaky Friday is a delightfully entertaining new musical for anyone with a perfectly imperfect family.

A good small supermarket has everything a neighborhood needs, including a charming cast of characters behind the counter. CITIZENS MARKET follows a hopeful group of immigrants as they form an unlikely family, working to master the ups and downs of language, love, and staying afloat in their new world.

Store manager Jesus (El Salvador), timid newcomer Akosua (Ghana), best employee Ciata (Sierra Leone) and homeless older couple Bogdan and Morphina (Romanian) discover new possibilities and restock their dreams amidst the aisles of cat food and canned goods. Full of laughter and life, this comedy-drama celebrates an ever-shifting and eclectic America.

From the creator of the popular 'da Kink in my Hair comes a powerful and touching tale of immigration, family and sacrifice.

Hard-working Daphne left her two young daughters in Jamaica for six years to create a better life for them in America. Now thirty years later, proud and private, Daphne is relying on church, prayers and home-cooked rice and peas to face a health crisis. Daughter Valerie is the primary caretaker, but her attention is split managing her successful husband and a rocky marital road. When the prodigal daughter Claudette arrives unexpectedly to help out, the reunion stirs up the buried past, family ghosts and the burning desire for unconditional love before it's too late.

Alix bounces between rooms, caring for her brothers while her newly divorced mom figures out a plan, and they scramble to make the weekly rent. Her classmate Mason, a budding composer, lives alone in a grand, empty house, while his absent father runs jobs for the Hong Kong mafia. Until the day his father disappears and Mason has to figure out how to come up with grocery money and dodge Child Services and U.S. Immigration.

Mason and Alix develop an unlikely friendship, learning to scrape by and trying to outrun their parents' mistakes. mistakes. It's the "upside down" of the suburbs in this tale of motel kids and parachute kids raising themselves and living without a safety net in a land of plenty.

Ching is an award winning writer whose plays have been developed by O'Neill Playwrights Conference, Lark Play Development Center and the Kilroys. On television, she's written for USA's Graceland, AMC's Fear: The Walking Dead and Amazon's I Love Dick.
