The Michael O'Neal Singers to Present BLUEGRASS MASS, 10/21
The Michael O'Neal Singers open the 2011-2012 season with a program of bluegrass music including the full chorus, ensemble singers, soloists and a bluegrass band. Carol Barnett's groundbreaking "Bluegrass Mass" will be featured. After writing this piece, which combines a classic choral sound with the jubilant harmonies typical of the bluegrass style, Barnett said, "My highest hope is that listeners coming from one tradition--classical or bluegrass--and perhaps dubious about the other, might discover something new and wonderful in the combination." For more about the Bluegrass Mass, read Michael O'Neal's blog post.
