SHAKIN' THE MESS OUTTA MISERY to Play Horizon Theatre, 7/2-8/22

Shay Youngblood's SHAKIN' THE MESS OUTTA MISERY will hit the Horizon Theatre stage once again from July 2nd through August 22nd. SHAKIN' THE MESS OUTTA MISERY was Horizon's first ever world premiere and this production will mark the show's return to the Horizon stage.

A joyous, exuberant celebration about the coming of age of a young girl and the eight loving Big Mamas who raised her. This circle of diverse Southern women prepare Daughter to go to the river - her rite of passage into womanhood. The stories they share are funny, sad, magical, and touching - tales of survival and healing. A soulfully insightful universal story.

Now in our 25th season, Horizon Theatre Company has been bringing exciting area and world premieres of contemporary plays to Atlanta's audiences under the leadership of Co-Artistic Directors and Founders Lisa and Jeff Adler since 1983. Horizon develops new audiences and artists through the Horizon Playwriting Education programs, and Senior Citizen Ensemble programs. Horizon's home is an intimate 175-seat theatre located in Atlanta's eclectic Little Five Points business and arts district.
