Jennifer Holliday Set for Atlanta Botanical Garden's Benefit Concert Tonight

By:

Actor's Express and Atlanta Botanical Garden present "Broadway in the Garden", a benefit concert featuring Jennifer Holliday, under the tent on the great lawn tonight, September 29, at 6:30pm. Also performing is "The BeHip Allstars", a six-piece jazz orchestra.

Tickets begin at $125 and include heavy hors d'oeuvres and open bar, the concert, a silent and live auction, and full access to the Atlanta Botanical Garden's

Imaginary Worlds: Plants Larger Than Life exhibit. VIP tables are available beginning at $1,000 (for 4), and include a post-event meet-and-greet with Ms. Holliday, among many other benefits. All details are available at www.actors-express.com or by calling (404) 607-7469 (SHOW). Proceeds benefit both Actor's Express and Atlanta Botanical Garden, and both parties are thrilled to partner on this special event.

"We are absolutely delighted to collaborate with Actor's Express in presenting the remarkably gifted Jennifer Holliday at an intimate concert here at the Atlanta Botanical Garden," said Mary Pat Matheson, the Garden's president and CEO. "The Garden's beauty will only be surpassed by Jennifer's elegant and magnificent voice -- what a magical combination! Actor's Express is also one of Atlanta's treasures, and we are honored to partner with it on this benefit concert."

This one-of-a-kind evening in the intimate concert setting (venue maximum capacity is 550 guests) will be an evening to remember. The Garden will remain open to "Broadway in the Garden" guests for the evening, and guests with VIP tickets will attend a post-show meet-and- greet with Jennifer Holliday in an even more intimate setting.

"Broadway in the Garden is a wonderful opportunity for two great cultural institutions to combine forces and create a memorable evening," said Freddie Ashley, Artistic Director of Actor's Express. "It also offers Atlantans the chance to see a beloved performer as they've never seen her before. We're thrilled to join with the Botanical Garden to bring such a legendary performer to such a special stage."

Jennifer Holliday has been proclaimed by both critics and fans alike as one of history's greatest Broadway legends. Over 25 years ago, Miss Holliday's show-stopping, heart-wrenching performance of the torch ballad "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going" in the smash hit Broadway musical Dreamgirls made her a household name and introduced her big soulful voice to the world. Her portrayal of Effie "Melody" White, a role which she co-created, not only brought theatergoers to their feet for 8 performances a week but also garnered her a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical and her first Grammy Award for Best R&B Female Vocalist. At this event, Miss Holliday will be performing songs from her new album"The Song is You".
