Horizon Theatre's RIGHT ON to Run 7/18-8/31

Putting the sizzle in the summer at Horizon is the world premiere of Darren Canady's Right On, a soul-filled story with laughter, tears and a funky beat. Brothas and sistahs who traded dashikis for day jobs reunite for a new generation in this funny and powerful comedic drama with a musical backdrop of 70's funk. Right On runs July 18 - August 31, 2014. Performances are Wednesday through Friday at 8 PM, Saturday at 3 PM and 8:30 PM, and Sunday at 5 PM. Tickets are $20-$30. Right On playwright Darren Canady is a rising star in American theatre, and won the American Theatre Critics Association 2012 M. Elizabeth Osborn New Play Award for best emerging playwright, recognizing his Brothers of the Dust, which premiered in May 2011 at Congo Square Theatre Company in Chicago. He was also the winner of the Alliance Theatre's Kendeda Graduate Playwriting Award in 2007, and his winning play, False Creeds, had its World Premiere on the Alliance Theatre's Hertz Stage that year. Darren will be in Atlanta through July 18. If anyone is interested in interviewing him while he is in town please let me know.

Performances of Right On run July 18 - August 31, 2014. Show times are Wednesday - Friday at 8 PM, Saturday at 3 PM & 8:30 PM, and Sunday at 5 PM. This show is recommended for ages 10 and up. There are press passes available for opening weekend performances on Friday, July 18 at 8 PM, Saturday, July 19 at 8:30 PM, and Sunday, July 20 at 5 PM.
