HARABEL Opens Tonight at Theatrical Outfit

By:

Following the critically acclaimed run of season-opener THE GUYS, Theatrical Outfit has announced HARABEL, A Sparrow over a Minefield , written by and starring Atlanta's own Jonida Beqo, and directed by Justin Anderson. Opening night is tonight, October 26, 7:30 curtain, reception following. Previews are Wednesday, October 23, 24, and 25, 7:30 curtain. Tickets (single tickets and "Second Chance Subscriptions") are on sale now at the box office, by phone (877-725-8849), and online at www.theatricaloutfit.org. Singles tickets start at $20; senior and student discounts are available. Theatrical Outfit is located at 84 Luckie Street NW, Atlanta, GA, 30303.

*STREET CAR CONSTRUCTION: Theatrical Outfit is so excited about the streetcar and the fabulous addition it will be to their neighborhood! In the meantime, the best route to the theatre avoiding streetcar construction is to take Marietta Street to Cone Street. Turn on Cone (there's only one way to turn onto Cone, regardless of the direction from whence you came). We suggest parking at LAZ Parking deck on the corner of Cone and Luckie Streets via the Cone Street entrance. Parking vouchers to that LAZ deck are available for purchase at the box office for $4 cash. To avoid all issues... take MARTA! Peachtree Center Station is closest, Five Points is next closest.

ABOUT HARABEL: Jonida Beqo intertwines theatre, dance and poetry in this riveting one-woman narrative detailing her personal journey-beginning at age 12-from an Albanian refugee to an American citizen, illuminating the universal truths that link us, and the thrill of embracing life at any cost. Known on the slam poetry scene as Gypsee Yo , Beqo boasts many international awards and critical praise. Creative Loafing of Savannah said, "We've had standing ovations before but never in the middle of the performance."

ABOUT THE CAST:

Jonida Beqo is a native of Albania, currently residing in Atlanta. She is a performance artist whose work aims to blur the lines between genres. Her background includes successful projects in theatre, dance, storytelling, and an extensive spoken word and slam poetry resume. This dedication to across disciplines exploration often makes it challenging to give a concise answer to the question "What do you do?" Sometimes she is a Costume Designer and a Wardrobe Mistress (Theatrical Outfit-Around the World in 80 Days, Blood Knot, The Green Book, Young Man from Atlanta, The Gifts of the Magi. True Colors-Spunk, Our Town, Fool for Love, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, The Mountaintop ), sometimes she is a performance poet (Southern Queen of Slam, Atlanta Slam Champion, two-time runner up of Women of The World Poetry Slam, National Poetry Slam semi-finalist), and sometimes she is a storyteller (one-woman shows-Jocasta, Sinners and Saints, Poetic Will ; original play - Passages and Detours ; features - NPR's Snap Judgment, Lincoln Center Outdoor Series). Harabel is a natural blend of all her artistic expressions, and she is honored to have it on the Theatrical Outfit stage.

Tickets start at $20 and are available online at the box office, by phone (877-725-8849), and online at www.theatricaloutfit.org. Senior and student discounts are available.
