The Legend of the Sword in the Stone based on the work of T.H. White, adapted and directed by Tim Conley and Allen O'Reilly.

In repertory July 20 - August 7 (matinees throughout schedule)

The Sword in the Stone synopsis: Throughout Arthur's childhood, he learns the theories of chivalry from his unlikely mentor, Merlin, which lead to Arthur's graduations to page, squire, and finally, knighthood. As an innovation to the Arthurian Legend, T. H. White incorporates fables throughout the story, which make it more humorous and enjoyable. It's been described as "a mixed drink of fantasy and realism, edged with satire, and beautifully blended by a humorous imagination." Magic and mischief abound in this world premiere adaptation of the classic tale of the boy who would be king.

Cast Highlights: The cast features the Will Power Ensemble, a program for student artists within the Georgia Shakespeare Education Department. The 2010-2011 members are Ann Marie Gideon, Brian Harrison, Casey Hoekstra and Caitlin McWethy - these actors are also currently performing in the Summer Festival productions.

Season Sponsors: AirTran Airways, The Georgia Council for the Arts, Bank of America, Oglethorpe University; Media Sponsor: Reporter Newspapers, PBA:30

The Will Power Ensemble is made possible through a generous grant from the Goizueta Foundation.
